PWD Bamenda produced a resilient performance to secure a 2–1 victory over Fauve Azur Elite in a tense Matchday Four Elite One encounter at the Omnisports Stadium Annex.
The Abakwa Boys struck early to seize control of the game, with Ndonwie Fielding opening the scoring in the 12th minute. The forward capitalised on a moment of hesitation in the Fauve Azur defence to calmly slot home, giving PWD a dream start in Yaoundé.
Fauve Azur pushed for an equaliser after the break, increasing their tempo and territorial dominance, but PWD remained compact and disciplined. Their persistence paid off again in the 74th minute when Patrick Colvert doubled the lead, finishing clinically to put the visitors in a commanding position.
Just five minutes later, Fauve Azur found a lifeline. Tresor Bembong pulled one back in the 79th minute, igniting hopes of a late comeback as pressure mounted on the Bamenda side.
The closing stages were filled with drama as PWD Bamenda were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Junior Nguimbat, who received a red card. Despite the numerical disadvantage and sustained pressure from Fauve Azur, PWD defended bravely to see out the game and claim all three points.
The result marks an important away victory for PWD Bamenda, while Fauve Azur are left to rue missed opportunities in front of their home supporters.
