Aigle Royal of Menoua have introduced another young sensation in the Cameroon top-flight championship.
15-Year-old Junior Tresor Bembong has made a sensational start to life in the top-flight and scored the lone goal for the El Pacha as they humbled eternal rivals Stade Renard of Melong in a tricky Matchday nine fixture at the Bepanda Omnisport Stadium.
Bembong who only joined the club few months ago played few minutes against Cotonsport on Tuesday but was thrown into the thick of things from the start against Stade Renard by risk-friendly David Pagou and boy didn’t disappoint!.
Scouted from a local football tournament in Ebolowa by to be club colleague Arnise Nlend, Bembong didn’t make life easy for the Stade Renard defense in front of him.
Romeo Tchamda and the rest of the defense line set up by coach Olivier Nankam were on the ropes all afternoon while the stands were animated by discussions of the flicks, take ons , twist and turns from the kid born on the March 7, 2007.
When Bembong finally fired the ball pass goalkeeper Emile Lako in goal for Stade Renard, Aigle Royal fans experienced the full excitement of seeing something special.
The game finished one nil, making it two wins and a draw in the past three games for the men from Dschang.
For a boy who has never played in the Elite championship or the regional championship, it was more or less like a miracle.
The emergence of Bembong only adds weight to the opinion that Cameroon is blessed with abundance of talents and just needs to properly harness them to become a main producer for the rest of the industry.
If Bembong plays during the rest of this season like he did in Matchday nine then Aigle Royal should be counted among contenders for a spot in the title playoffs.
Aigle are currently on the seventh spot in Pool A with 11 points from their opening eight games this season.
