  • Eding Sport Filles leaves the Women’s top-flight championship after being in the relegation battle almost every other season
  • Their 15th defeat of the season against Louves Minprof in Odza last Sunday sealed their fate
  • Eding Sport will join Fortuna in the journey back to the center Regional championship, leaving them with four Guinness Super League clubs

Eding Sport Filles of Yaoundé have been relegated from the Guinness Super League following their 0-3 defeat to Louves Minprof this Sunday in the penultimate game of the season.

A brace from Emeliene Endalle plus a goal from Mexes Kalelo ensured Éclair took maximum points and subject Eding to their 15th defeat in 21 matches this season.

The defeat left them with just 14 points from four wins and two draws with just a game left in the championship which the other relegation candidate Ita Mbong had already accumulated 19 points with a game left for all.

At the blast of the full-time whistle it was confirmed that Eding Sport will join Fortuna in the exit from the Cameroon women’s top-flight championship after a season to forget for both center region outfits.

This situation leaves the center region with just Lekie Filles, Louves Minprof, Amazon FAP and Éclair as the region’s representatives in the top-flight championship while waiting to see if another gets a spot via the next national promotion playoffs.

This relegation had hover around Eding for the past two seasons, but they were lucky to survive it last term.

The relegation battle is settled but all attention will be on games that involves FC Ebolowa and Lekie Filles this weekend as both clubs are still in the running to win the 2023/24 Guinness Super League title.
