- Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui’s second goal of the season set the pace for Beijing Gouan to go on to record a 2-1 win against resolute Shanghai Shenshua
- The defeat is the club’s first in 23 Chinese football matches, reflecting from same time last August
Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defender Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui was amongst the goals this Sunday as his Chinese Super League club, Beijing Gouan outclassed Shanghai Shenshua by 2-1 in a nail-bitting contest that was decided by a late goal in the seventh minute of additional time from Wang Ziming.
Beijing Gouan’s character on the day made them deserved winners and the first club in Chinese football to win against title chasing Shanghai Shenshua in the past 27 matches.
Coach Richardo Soares’ entered the contest knowing Beijing Gouan wasn’t going to make it easy especially as the reversed fixture finished on a tie and the host is one of only three clubs to beat them in the past 12 months.
Seeking a reaction from the defeat against Shenzhen Xinpengcheng last weekend Beijing Gouan scored from their first offensive move of the game via Ngadeu, who headed home a great cross.
The early lead for the visitors gave them an edge to dominate and take the game to the visitors who could barely get hold of the ball.
Andre Louis thought he had equalized for Shanghai Shenshua only to see the officials chalk-off the goal he scored in the 49th minute.
Swiss Congolese forward Cephas Male finally scored the equaliser in the 76th minute of the but as Shanghai Shenshua were pushing to equalise they left spaces at the back and Wang scored the winner deep into added time to make Beijing Gouan the club that has handed Shanghai Shenshua their two defeats of the last four from the past 31 games.
The win for Ngadeu and mates consolidate their occupation of the fourth spot after 22 Chinese Super League matches this season.
Beijing Gouan will face Qingdao West Coast in their next outing in the championship on August 11.
Ngadeu’s goal is his second this season and he has been accountable for one assist, all from the 21 games played this season.
