- Simba SC lost their 41st game against Yanga SC in 112 games played since 1965
- Che Malone played the entire game and DR Congo’s Maxi Nzengeli settled it with a first-half strike
- Yanga SC will play against Azam FC in the final of the competition
Che Malone’s Simba SC suffered a disappointing 0-1 defeat against eternal rivals, Yanga SC on Thursday in the first Kariakoo derby of the coming season. The Yellow and Green scored just before the break and held on in the packed Benjamin Mkapa stadium to advance to the final of the competition.
DR Congo forward Maxi Nzengeli scored the only goal of the game just before half-time to condemn Simba to their third defeat against Yanga since 2023 and earn a berth in the final against Azam FC who made light work of Coastal Union.
Nzengeli benefitted from a well-worked ball from Pacome Zouazoua and newly-signed Prince Dube to punish Simba SC in the 44th and that was it.
Despite the moments of scares from Simba SC, Yanga SC held on and matched on to earned their 41st victory over Simba SC in 112 matches since 1965.
Again, Che Malone played full throttle and had an outstanding game though he couldn’t prevent the defeat.
The final will be played this weekend ahead of the new season to start next week.
It is a decisive season for Che and his Simba SC colleagues as they will aim to stop Yanga SC from winning a third successive Tanzanian Premier League title.
