Christian Kofane Excited Ahead of Champions League Clash Against Arsenal

Cameroon international Christian Kofane says he is excited ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal F.C., as Bayer Leverkusen prepare to battle the English giants for a place in the next round of Europe’s elite club competition.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, the 19-year-old forward expressed enthusiasm about facing one of the top teams in England and insisted his team is ready for the challenge.

“I’m really excited about the game. Arsenal are a great team. We have trained well and want to give everything we can,” Kofane said ahead of the encounter.

The Cameroonian youngster also stressed that Leverkusen are determined to give their best performance when they step onto the pitch, despite the quality of their opponents.

The match represents another major milestone in Kofane’s young career. At just 19, he is featuring in the UEFA Champions League for the first time and continues to gain valuable experience on Europe’s biggest club stage. In the competition this season, Kofane has made 8 appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist in 417 minutes of action.

Across all competitions in the 2025/26 campaign, the teenage forward has played 22 matches for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 5 goals and delivering 3 assists, underlining his growing importance in the squad during his debut season at the club.

Kofane is currently the only Cameroon international still involved in the competition, following the elimination of other Indomitable Lions earlier in the tournament. His participation therefore keeps Cameroonian representation alive in the Champions League knockout rounds.

For Bayer Leverkusen, the tie against Arsenal is expected to be highly competitive. The German side will rely on their attacking quality and home support as they attempt to gain an advantage before the decisive return leg.
