Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach has told the logistics services of the national team to summon Jean Charles Castelletto of FC Nantes as replacement for Samsunsport midfield juggernaut Jules Olivier Ntcham.

The former Celtic Glasgow and Manchester City playmaker who counts four goals in eight Turkish Super League games this played full throttle in their 3-1 away win at Adana Demispor over the weekend but reputable Cameroonian portal, spirtglitz.net has revealed News of his unavailability and replacement by Castelletto.

Brys’ invitation of 29-year-old Castelletto despite the friction between him and Antoine Kamboure at FC Nantes marks his return to the team after he was kept out by injury in September.

Brys’ submission late last week during the revelation of his squad said a lot about the sweeper who counts two goals in 27 appearances for his country.

“Concerning Castelletto, he called me three weeks ago. He had already (played) two matches. He is getting fitter and better. He will increase his level more and more. It was too close, too fast for me.

“We would like to use perhaps another guy who has other qualities and who plays a lot of time during such an important match”, Brys detailed.

Despite the nice words from Brys, the manager also lamented his difficult club situation.

“Unfortunately, I also heard that Castelletto was in conflict with his coach. Tomorrow or the day after, I will get back in touch with him to find out what happened”, Brys concluded.

Though Castelletto is more regular as a defender, he has already played for Cameroon as a midfielder during the AFCON 2021 qualifier win by 2-0 away to Mozambique in Maputo.

The return to the national team is just timely for Charles who is dealing with a number of buses at the level of his club.

The first leg of the double-header is scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The return leg will happen on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda. The second match in Kampala will be played behind closed doors.

These fixtures will be pivotal for Cameroon and Kenya’s campaign to qualify for the prestigious continental tournament scheduled next November and December in Morocco.
