Cameroon’s U-20 Indomitable Lions have begun a second two weeks preparatory camp for the 2024 Union of Central African Football Federation (UNIFFAC) at the CAF Excellence Center in Mbankomo.

The 24 players picked by coach Yvan Kenmoe held their first training session of the second camp on Wednesday, August 29 as the team gears up for the zonal outing.

The squad picked for this camp includes players who were in the first camp and new players. There is the notable addition of Enow Jude of Victoria United, Simo Gedeon of ISOHSA of Limbe while the likes of Boris Mfoumou of AS Fortuna, Joel Lee Ikose Njuma amongst others have been dropped from the squad.

Yondjo Mata, Ning Che, Simo Gedeon and co trained for just around two hours under the guidance of coach Yvan and fitness trainer Ndikum Blaise as part of the two weeks routine to identify players to make the cut for the finals in Brazzaville.

Per our findings, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Central Africa Republic, Chad, DR Congo, Congo Republic and Gabon have affiliated for the tournament. This means seven of the eight zonal members are expected to be involved – the only absentee being Sao Tome and Principe.

The draw for the tournament is expected to be conducted on September 4 in Cairo while the tournament proper gets underway a week later.

The tournament is expected to run from September 11-23 in Brazzaville with the best two nations emerging from it to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in their category.

Gabon beat Congo to claim the last edition of the competition last year in Kinshasa. They will be challenged by more contenders this time around, including regular winners: Cameroon that missed the previous edition of the tournament.
