Cameroon: Minister Joseph Le makes rallying call to USA diehards

Cameroon’s minister of Administrative reforms and public employment, Joseph Le has called on all sons and daughters of the East region of the country to put hands on deck and push Union Sportif of Abong (USA) to victory this Friday as the newcomers get the latest MTN Elite Two championship campaign underway at the Stade Jean Sembong de Bagofit.

“Mr Joseph Le, minister of Public employment and administrative reforms, member of the platform of the development of the East region has the honour to bring to the notice of the authorities of the region that the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has decided to kickstart it’s the MTN Elite Two championship at the Stade Jean Sembong of Bagofit. This sports event of huge significance will honour our region. Therefore I call on all supporters of USA to be present in this big appointment whose accees condition to the stadium will be determined by the organisers.”

Union Sportif of Abong Mbang, one of the historic clubs of Cameroon football secured a return to Elite competition via the 2024 national interpools in which they finished runners-up to Atlantic of Kribi.

The opening game will mark their return to Elite competition after over 20 years of absence during which the East region was deprived of the taste of Elite football until when Stade Bertoua was promoted in 2019 only to suffer an administrative relegation in 2023.

They will be honoured to launch the championship on Friday, while the rest of the matches will be played on Saturday December 14.

The 17-club MTN Elite Two championship is expected to be played in two pools. The first four clubs of each pool will participate in the promotion playoffs while the bottom club of pool A will be relegated alongside four other clubs with the poorest results from the relegation playoffs.

Union Sportif of Abong Mbang is pooled with TKC of Yaoundé, Bafmeng United FA, Eding Sport de la Lekie, Djiko FC, FAP, ISOHSA of Limbe, Aigle Royal of Menoua and Fovu of Baham.
