  • Legend FA has called out the organizers of the national futsal championship in Yaoundé for allegedly fielding an unregistered club, “Warriors Sport of Buea,” as the South West region’s representative
  • The club, which claims to be the only officially registered women’s team for the tournament, expressed outrage over a false report of a 12-0 loss to AS LIFA
  • Despite withdrawing from the competition for logistical reasons, Legend FA discovered a team impersonating them and is demanding accountability from the organizers

Legend FA has vocally criticized the organizers of the ongoing national futsal championship in Yaoundé for allegedly fielding an unregistered club as the representative for the South West region.

In a strongly worded press release issued on August 16, the club asserted that they are the sole officially registered women’s team eligible for this prestigious competition, expressing astonishment at the appearance of “Warriors of Buea” as the region’s representative.

The communiqué stated, “Legend FA is the only female team officially registered for this competition and has the exclusive right to represent the South West region

We strongly reject and disassociate ourselves from the inaccurate report of a 12-0 loss to AS LIFA. It is unacceptable for the organizers to misrepresent our club’s name alongside a so-called team called “Volcanic Warriors,” which is neither registered in our system nor recognized in our region”

According to exclusive insights from the Kick442.com team, Legend FA had withdrawn from the tournament shortly before kickoff due to logistical challenges. However, they were taken aback to discover their name associated with a fictitious 0-12 loss to LIFA on Match Day Two, August 15, 2024.

Upon further investigation, the team uncovered that a club had been competing under the guise of Legend FA. When they contacted the organizers to address this fraudulent representation, they learned that the impostor team was rebranded as “Warriors Sport of Buea,” a club lacking any official registration or authorization to represent the South West.

This alleged substitution of Legend FA was reportedly introduced on Day Three of the tournament, August 16, following warnings issued by the club’s president.

The organizers of this national competition are yet to respond.

However, this situation raises significant concerns about the integrity of the tournament and the representation of women’s futsal at the national level, highlighting the need for stricter regulations and oversight to ensure that only legitimate teams participate in such high-stakes competitions.

It is noteworthy that Legend FA stands out as one of the few teams in the South West to have established a women’s squad. They have consistently represented the region at the national interpools for three consecutive years, reaching the semi-finals twice.

Unfortunately, they were denied the opportunity to compete this year due to the suspension of the women’s league, attributed to a lack of participants.
