Cameroon internationals Vincent Aboubakar and Jean Onana basked in the glory of Beşiktaş’s stunning 5-0 victory over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Cup final on August 3.

While Aboubakar, the captain of the Indomitable Lions, watched the match from the stands, Jean Onana made a significant contribution, coming off the bench to play approximately 30 minutes in this commanding performance.

This victory marks a notable achievement for both players, with Aboubakar adding another trophy to his collection. It is his third Super Cup title with Beşiktaş, having previously lifted the trophy in 2017 and 2021. For Onana, this is his first title with the side.

The match itself was a remarkable display of dominance by Beşiktaş. Ciro Immobile set the tone early, scoring just 20 seconds into the game, sending shockwaves through the Galatasaray camp

The Black Eagles continued to assert their control, with Jonas Svensson doubling the lead in the 53rd minute. Immobile then added a second goal from the penalty spot in the 81st minute, effectively sealing the match.

Galatasaray’s woes were compounded when defender Victor Nelsson received a red card, leaving his team with ten men. Beşiktaş capitalized on this advantage, with late goals from Rafa Silva and Mustafa Hekimoglu further humiliating the reigning champions and concluding the match at a staggering 5-0.

This resounding victory not only secures the Turkish Super Cup for Beşiktaş but also sends a strong message to their rivals as the season gets underway.

Despite the victory, Aboubakar’s lack of playing time suggests he may not be in Beşiktaş’s plans for the season.
