BUEA, Cameroon – Cameroon’s football community is in uproar following the emergence of a leaked voice note allegedly featuring top-tier referee Ekokobe Ernest, in which he makes explosive claims against senior figures in regional football administration.

The voice note, which has rapidly circulated across social media platforms, reportedly contains accusations from Ekokobe involving Ndazeh Valery, the Regional President of FECAFOOT South West, and other top stakeholders including the Governor of the South West Region. In the recording, the referee attests to them, handpicking champions of the South West Regional League for the past four football seasons—a move that, if true, undermines the principles of fair competition.

More controversially, Ekokobe is heard praising Nkwain Valentine, popularly known as Bobdiddy, for allegedly masterminding the scheme. While he lauds Bobdiddy’s influence, critics argue the approach violates FIFA’s core values of Fair Play, integrity, and impartiality in football governance.

The allegations have ignited fierce debate within the local football scene. Many players, coaches, and fans have condemned the purported scheme, describing it as “blatantly biased” and “a stain on the credibility of the regional championship.”

What makes this scandal even more seismic is Ekokobe Ernest’s current status as an active referee in Cameroon’s Elite One, the country’s top-tier football league. His ongoing role raises pressing questions about impartiality and the ethical obligations of match officials. Questions that have rocked the current football season in its entirety.

Neither FECAFOOT nor the accused individuals have officially responded to the allegations at the time of this report. Calls are growing louder for a formal investigation, with some stakeholders demanding that Ekokobe, an erstwhile FIFA referee be investigated to substantiate his claims.

If substantiated, the voice note could trigger disciplinary actions under both FECAFOOT and FIFA statutes, potentially leading to suspensions, dismissals, or even lifetime bans.

This unfolding drama puts the spotlight back on governance issues in Cameroon football and raises concerns about the protection of integrity within the sport.

This is a developing story, more to follow…
