Cameroon narrowly triumphed over Kenya with a 1-0 victory at Namboole Stadium, courtesy of a brilliant free kick from debutant Boris Takang Enow in the 63rd minute.

The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm in a goalless first half, despite several promising opportunities.

Kenya was quick to make their mark, but their efforts were thwarted by Manchester United’s shot-stopper, André Onana.

In the 13th minute, Midfielder Zambo linked up with Bryan Mbeumo to set up Vincent Aboubakar, whose effort was comfortably saved by Kenyan keeper Bryne Odhiambo Omondi

The Harambee Stars responded seven minutes later when captain Michael Olunga capitalized on a defensive lapse by Castelleto. He made a driving run before passing to Duke Abuya, who hesitated to shoot and instead found John Avire; however, Avire’s attempt sailed over the bar.

Martin Hongla was a standout performer for Cameroon in the first half, creating a scoring chance in the 28th minute that was just out of reach for Bassogog. He later attempted a surprise long-range shot that was well saved by Bryne Odhiambo Omondi.

In the 34th minute, Hongla again connected with Kunde Malong in the penalty area, but Malong’s shot drifted inches wide. The first half drama concluded with Nouhou Tolo having a goal ruled out for offside.

As the second half unfolded, Cameroon ramped up their attacking pressure, and Enow’s introduction for Malong proved decisive. His expertly taken free kick marked Cameroon’s first away goal in this qualifying campaign.

With Cameroon ahead, Kenya intensified their search for an equalizer, prompting coach Engin Firat to make tactical changes in hopes of finding some clinical finishing.

However, as the final whistle blew, Cameroon secured all three points and extended their lead at the top of Group J to 10 points after four matches.
