The Cameroon Refereeing trio selected for the 2022 African Nations Championship, CHAN will take charge of one of Cameroon’s most intriguing league matches this Wednesday.
CHAN bound Ngwa Blaise, Atezambong Carine and Menye Mpele have been assigned to take charge of the AS Fortuna versus Dragon clash at the Olembe Annex Stadium.
The game is a rare one with the trio together though they have all been in the topflight for close to a decade.
This move to play the trio together is more or less like a pre-tournament rehearsal and a welcomed move from the Cameroon Refereeing appointment team.
Atezambong is the only lady in the trio and returns to the domestic scene as a more apt official, having been very involved in multiple international tournaments that denied Cameroon the privilege of exploring the talent of arguably it’s greatest female assistant referee of all-time.
Fortuna and Dragon players are the star of this fixture, but the fact that their game officiated by the cream of celebrated personel makes it even more exciting and attractive.
As if that is not enough, the 2PM fixture at the Olembe Annex 1 Stadium in the outskirts of Yaounde will have a certain Menkouande Evariste as refereeing inspector.
Menkouande retired from active refereeing after taking charge of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final between Algeria and Senegal. At the end of the tournament he was decorated as one of the best assistant referee alongside compatriot Elvis Noupoue and referee Alioum Sidi.
The CHAN referees gather in Algeria next week ahead of the 18 nations tournament to start on January 13 and run for just over two weeks.
