The U-20 Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon fought back to secure a dramatic 2-2 in their first outing of the 2024 Women’s U-20 FIFA World Cup this Saturday evening.

A second half brace from Naomi Ndjoah Leslie Eto ensured the Central Africans start on a positive note despite being two-goal in the first-half.

Garcia put the Concacaf champions ahead after three minutes of the game even before Cameroon could settle into the contest.

The early goal didn’t force Cameroon backwards. They rather multiplied their efforts and hit the woodwork on two occasions before the Mexicans got the second.

Saldivar scored the second for Mexico just before the break to make comeback an almost improbable situation.

However, the Cameroon team resumed the second segment with a completely different momentum, pushing the Mexican to spend the best part of the opening moments of the second half.

Eto pulled one back after seven minutes of resumption before she completing the comeback with a second of the night at the 85th minute.

Both sides couldn’t get the winner through eight minutes of additional time, thus making it a stalemate and first point of the competition.

Eto’s scintillating performance earned the Amazone FAP forward the player of the match award.

Cameroon will switch her attention to her next task as they will face hosts Colombia on match day two of the tournament.
