Liberian Premier League side Black Man Warrior Football Club have made a bold statement of intent by appointing one of Central Africa’s most respected coaches, Ernest Agbor Ako, as their new head coach, kick442.com has learned from Giovanni Wanneh of Sportsglitz.com.

The CAF License A tactician arrived in Monrovia on Monday evening to a warm reception led by Julius Jay Kwateh, the club’s licensed agent and CEO of JK Academy. His appointment marks a new era for the Warriors, who are banking on Agbor’s 25 years of top-level experience to inject structure, ambition, and professionalism into their setup.

Black Man Warrior currently sit 11th in the 14-team championship, with just four points from their first five matches. The task ahead is demanding, but Agbor’s pedigree in building and stabilizing teams across Central Africa makes him well-suited for the challenge. He was already in the stands on matchday five, watching closely as his new side fought to a draw against Heaven Eleven FC—a first glimpse of the project he is set to rebuild from the ground up.

Agbor’s managerial career has been defined by hard work and steady growth. He began his coaching journey with Kohi Maroua in Cameroon’s Elite Two, where his tactical discipline and ability to shape young players quickly drew attention. His rise continued through some of Cameroon’s biggest clubs, including Union Douala, Les Astres de Douala, and UMS Loum, before co-leading Coton Sport de Garoua to the CAF Champions League group stages in 2022. That achievement solidified his reputation as one of Cameroon’s most astute tacticians, capable of guiding teams to compete at the highest continental level.

He later took charge of Bamboutos of Mbouda during the 2023/24 season, building a team that played with both structure and flair. Before that, he was part of the technical staff of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon, where he served as assistant coach between 2016 and 2018—an experience that refined his approach to managing at national team level.

Before turning to coaching, Agbor was a player himself, representing traditional Cameroonian powerhouses Union Douala and PWD Bamenda. Those early years on the pitch shaped his understanding of the game from a player’s perspective, a trait that now defines his player-centered coaching philosophy.

In Liberia, Agbor’s influence will go beyond the first team. He is expected to play a key role in the club’s broader development strategy, working closely with the girls’ team, Tap Tap, and overseeing the Under-17 selection program. His developmental mindset and technical expertise are seen as vital to nurturing the next generation of Liberian talent.

For the Warriors, this appointment represents more than just a change in leadership—it signals a cultural shift. With Ernest Agbor Ako at the helm, the club is not only aiming to climb the league table but also to build a lasting football identity grounded in discipline, youth development, and ambition. His arrival could mark the beginning of a transformative chapter in the history of Black Man Warrior FC.
