Carlos Baleba Noom and his LOSC Lille colleagues secured qualification for next season’s Europa Conference League, following their 1-1 draw away to Stade Troyes of compatriot Tristan Dingome in their last game of the season on Saturday at the Stade de L’Aube.
Paulo Fonseca’s side squandered a handful of chances which caused them the much needed points to secure UEFA Europa League football, but they will be in the lower competition come August, securing a return to European competition for the first time in as many years.
Lille finished the season in the 5th spot, behind Stade Rennes of Karl Toko Ekambi by just a point. Rennes will play in the UEFA Europa League
Though it was a low end to a campaign that started so well, it provides a chance to rob shoulders with Europe’s elites next season.
Lille will go into the group stage of the competition and hope to have a run in it.
Baleba didn’t feature in the last game of the season, but in all he made 19 appearances and provided two assists across the season.
The 19-year-old EFBC of Douala product will make his debut in European competition next year if he stays at Lille.
