Former Lille skipper Aurélien Bayard Chedjou Fongang has returned to the club following a recent appointment as the juvenile team coach on Tuesday, July 29.

The 40-year-old who made 154 appearances for the club between 2007 and 2013 before moving to Turkey is expected to put all his football knowledge to good effect and build a bridge between amateur and professional football for lads at the Lille Academy.

Chedjou retired four years ago and engaged in building his post-career portfolio to the extend that the former French Ligue 1 championship and French Cup winner with Les Dogues now holds a UEFA license A certification which allows him to coach in any team across the globe. Landing the youth team job at Lille is potentially the start of a long journey if he gets it right.

Per his job description, the club expects Chedjou to train the young generation of players daily and recommend them to the first team staff, depending on his appreciation of their readiness for the first team.

The man that played for Galatasaray, FC Rouen, Pau FC, Bursaspor, Adana Demirspor among other clubs is thus best placed to determine when a player can transit from the formation to the post-formation era.

The man who made 49 appearances for his country and scored once, plus featured at the Africa Cup of Nations, FIFA World Cup amongst others will start a new life and hope to achieve the kind of success he achieved as a player in his new role.

Cameroonian young stars, Aris Noubissie and Angel Yondjo Matam will be under his guidance in the staff that has his compatriot Benoit Angbwa as part of the recently constituted Technical crew.
