Atangana Edoa extends contract with Reims

Valentin Atangana Edoa has extended his contract with the Red and Whites until 2027. At just 19 years old, this midfield leader is only at the beginning of his promising football journey.

Having joined the club at the U11 level, Valentin epitomizes the new generation of Reims talents. He has captained every category he has progressed through, consistently representing the SDR colors with pride.

His Ligue 1 debut came in February 2022 during the derby against Troyes. Since then, he has become a key player, making 37 Ligue 1 appearances, including starting all 15 matches this season. His consistency and maturity are exceptional for a player of his age.

Valentin’s leadership extends beyond the club level. He captained the France U17 team to victory at the Euro U17 and led the France U19 team to the Euro final this summer, scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final.

His outstanding performances earned him a call-up to the Espoirs last month, where he made an immediate impact by scoring against Italy and winning a penalty against Germany.

Known for his physical presence, tactical intelligence, and ball-handling skills, Valentin Atangana Edoa is one of the most promising talents of his generation. His human qualities and impeccable attitude, both on and off the pitch, are highly praised within the club.

Pol-Edouard Caillot, Sporting Director of Stade de Reims, describes Valentin as a born leader who inspires confidence. “He has a feel for football: he knows when to slow down, accelerate, or play forward. We have the impression that he already has ten years of experience at the highest level. He is the boss of our midfield and also of the French team in his category. He sees everything before anyone else and fills the space perfectly.”

Valentin Atangana Edoa’s talent and leadership make him a promising addition to the future of Cameroon football. Although he has played for France’s youth teams, he has the potential to switch allegiance to Cameroon. Joining other young talents like Carlos Baleba and Arthur Avom.
