Côte D’Ivoire football giant ASEC Mimosas made over seven millions FCFA from gate takings in their goalless draw against Simba SC of Tanzania on Friday in match day five of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.

The interesting contest at the Felix Hougphet Boigney stadium attracted ten thousand fans of the Ivorian and Tanzania top-flight champions and vice champions respectively, generating over 18 millions FCFA.

Per sources, the match ticketing team raised 18.390.000 FCFA from the sales of tickets of which ASEC Mimosas had 7.636.000 FCFA and the rest was distributed between other stakeholders.

The draw meant ASEC Mimosas had secured qualification for the quarter-final of this season’s CAF Champions League while Simba hopes for slip from Wydad Athletic Club in any of their last two games and a win at home to Jwaneng Galaxy to join ASEC Mimosas in the last eight.

The huge cash from the gate takings plus the quarter-final qualification prize will go a long way to stabilize the historic ASEC project whose worth and value added over the years no tongue can tell.
