Cameroonian sports journalist and media professional Angu Lesley has been appointed CAF Media Editor at the Fez venue for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, reinforcing his stature as one of Africa’s leading football media figures.

The assignment marks Lesley’s third successive AFCON tournament involvement in an official CAF media capacity — a journey that began with his debut at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon. There, he served as a CAF Media Officer, initially operating from CAF headquarters in Douala before taking on expanded responsibilities.

Lesley’s consistent performance on the continental stage has seen him deepen his editorial footprint. He has worked as an editor at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2023 in Algeria, followed by another editorial role at the recent CHAN competition in Tanzania. Additionally, he served as a CAF media officer for the 2024 CHAN tournament, his third consecutive assignment at the competition — evidence of his reliability and operational versatility.

His CAF portfolio also includes roles at numerous zonal competitions under the Central African Football Unions (UNIFFAC) banner and in CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where he has served as a lead media officer and content creator, contributing to the professionalisation of media operations across the region.

Lesley’s expertise extends beyond African football governance. At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, he worked as a PMO and Service Media Officer for the Cameroon national team, supporting one of the sport’s most high-profile global tournaments.

At home, Lesley has been a cornerstone of media development within the Cameroon Football circle, serving as a mentor for media professional for years and also acting as Media Officer for the Cameroon U-17 national team for two years from 2019.

His journalistic excellence has been recognised both nationally and regionally. In 2021, Lesley was honoured as Best Sports Journalist at the Victoria International Media Merit Awards — a testament to his impact in promoting football narratives across Cameroon and beyond.  He was also named to the jury panel for the 2022 Cameroon Footballer of the Year Awards, placing him among the country’s most respected voices in sports media.

Known among peers by the nickname “Dr. Stats” for his analytical precision and mastery of sports data, Lesley has additionally been invited as a keynote speaker at the Global Media Forum in Rabat, where he shared insights on the future of media and communication in sports.

With more than a decade of experience across local, regional, continental and global football media operations, Angu Lesley now becomes the first Cameroonian to work as a CAF content creator or editor across five consecutive CAF tournaments — a historic milestone reflecting sustained institutional confidence and professional excellence.

AFCON 2025 runs from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, with Fez among the host cities expected to stage key matches in a tournament set to captivate fans across Africa and beyond.
