- YOSA registered their second win of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Victoria United
- This marked their first outing under new coach Alexandre Belinga, who, despite not being on the technical bench due to licensing delays, oversaw a transformed side compared to their 3-0 loss in the first leg
- Fielding Ndonwie continued to shine, scoring his fourth goal of the season and solidifying his position as YOSA’s top scorer
Alain Sifo delivered a moment of pure magic in the dying seconds of added time, scoring a breathtaking long-range goal from midfield to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory for Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) over Victoria United on Match Day 16 of the Elite One championship.
With Victoria United’s goalkeeper stranded upfield, Sifo seized the opportunity, launching an audacious shot that found the empty net and sent the Bamendzi Stadium into a frenzy.
This stunning strike capped off a hard-fought comeback for YOSA, who had earlier fallen behind to an Alex Chamdjou goal in the 12th minute.
The match began with Victoria United asserting their dominance early, as Chamdjou found the back of the net with a clinical finish.
However, YOSA responded before half time equalizing in the 34th minute through Fielding Ndonwie, who finished superbly after a well-timed assist from Agbor Standley.
Ndonwie’s goal, his fourth of the season, underscored his growing influence as a key figure in the team and set the stage for a fiercely contested match.
Both sides created chances in a tense and evenly balanced encounter, but it was Sifo’s late heroics that ultimately decided the outcome.
This victory marked the debut of new coach Alexandre Belinga, who, though absent from the technical bench due to licensing delays, made his presence felt through the team’s improved organization.
The win lifted the yellow submarines to 10 points, though they remain in the relegation zone. Next, they face Bamboutos of Mbouda, aiming to build on this momentum and continue their fight for survival in the Elite One championship.
