The (“Grand Stade Adrar d’Agadir”), home to the renowned Hassania Agadir football club, has undergone a remarkable renovation project under the expert management of SONARGES (National Company for the Realization and Management of Stadiums) ahead of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

Phase One: Preparing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

The inaugural phase of the renovation project focused on preparing the stadium’s main compartments for the prestigious 2025 Africa Cup of Nations football tournament. According to Mr. Hicham Allouli, the Regional Director of SONARGES, “Like other stadiums in Morocco, the Agadir stadium has implemented a two-phase upgrade program to ensure it meets the stringent requirements of the African Football Confederation and FIFA.”

“The first phase comprised preparing the stadium’s main compartments for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, including exterior development works that enabled us to increase the parking capacity from 2,600 to 4,100 spaces outside the stadium,” Mr. Allouli elaborated.

Upgrading Training Facilities and Infrastructure

The renovation project also encompassed upgrading the training grounds, including annex training fields, and replacing the turf. “Another key aspect of the project involved upgrading the training grounds, which comprise not only the main field but also a sports complex with training fields. We replaced all the patch, on the main field and training pitches, to ensure optimal playing conditions,” Mr. Allouli added.

Technical Upgrades and Future Plans

The renovation project also included upgrading the stadium’s technical departments to facilitate seamless operations during major events. “Our work also involved upgrading all technical departments to enable better exploitation of the stadium during major events. We replaced some seating areas, and the remaining work will be completed during the second phase of the renovation project,” Mr. Allouli stated.

“We are now well-prepared to host major events at the Agadir stadium, pending the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The second phase will enable us to meet FIFA’s specifications and host the World Cup in the best possible conditions,” assured the Regional Director of SONARGES.
