SW Football: Dangerous calm reigns as HDC crew ‘boils’ under pressure

Tension looms as another exciting season in the Southwest Regional championship came to a conclusion two weeks ago and clubs await official approval of results obtained across the season.

The approval of the results by the Homologation and Disciplinary Commission (HDC) of the Southwest arm of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) is the talking point across the region.

Stakeholders on social and mainstream face an anxious wait to know which eight clubs that will progress to the regional playoffs after results are censured and doctored per the laws of the game by the president Fombom Jerry-led HDC.

Over the past decade, the HDCs across the country have produced some jaw dropping decisions, huge enough to reshape a club’s destiny.

This season for example in the top-flight championship, it took an HDC related ruling to relegate Djiko FC, save Avion Academy and reduce Eding Sport to a relegation play-off team that eventually lost the two-clubs contest.

What kick442.com knows about SWRL HDC task at hand

We understand the Southwest Regional League (SWRL) of FECAFOOT HDC has varied files before them and the penal of reputable lawyers are treating them diligently and taking their time to handle them especially with recent the backlash after some of their decisions.

Going by the fact that clubs in the amateur championship have all sorts of challenges, it is only right for the body to take its time and deliver the right decisions. Mind you, some say justice delayed is justice denied, just like justice rushed is justice crushed. So there is a need to strike a balance.

What can be the hot potatoes before the HDC?

kick442.com sources have learned that there is a qualification protest written by Future Dreams FC against Kumba City Council FC while Treviso have a case against some Fako United players amongst others. Some match and club officials also have pending files before the body, thus making it busy days for the crew.

Last week, staff of the prosecuted clubs were before the disciplinary body to defend themselves or at least tender explanations and clarifications vis-a-vis related issues.

The final verdict on matches for this season in the South West Regional championship is expected to be delivered this week, while the playoffs starts just after.

Delay in the playoffs has been decried by stakeholders who are pressuring the HDC to deliver their verdict. They argue that the delay increases their expenditure on a venture they are not certain about recovery of their invested cash. This must be added pressure at a time the legal minds need maximum levelheadedness.

So far, Istanbul FA, Bright Stars Academy, NQSA, Fako United FC, ISOHSA, Tiko United, Kumba City FC and 2015 champions Best Stars Academy are unofficially through to the mini interpools.

Information we can’t independently confirm have it that; Buea United could reap from a qualification protest written by Treviso against Fako United players in match day 13 and leapfrog into the playoff.
