Thanks to her hat-trick against AS Fortuna on Sunday afternoon, Eleane Aimée Bibout, who won the Guinness Super League Act 1 Golden Shoe with 18 goals, has been crowned the 21st Woman Of Guinnessico in season 3 of the Guinness Super League. The Éclair Football Filles de Sa’a striker now has 12 goals to her name.
She discussed the circumstances surrounding her performance; “Fortuna’s defence was pretty solid, but I was able to find a way through. It’s true that the first chance I got, with less than a minute on the clock, I had the chance to open the scoring, so I said to myself, why not score more goals, and that’s how I ended up doubling and trebling every time I had the chance to shoot at goal,” Sais Bibout.
While Bibout was rewarded for her Dante-esque efforts, she never forgot that it was above all a team effort that gave her such opportunities: “I’d just like to thank my team-mates and all the staff because this match wasn’t easy. I’m really coming off the bottom and the 3 goals I’ve just scored are thanks to the Lord, but also to my lucidity in front of goal”.
Bibout, who is now 6 points behind top scorer Marie Gisèle Ngah Manga of Lékié Football Filles, sees herself as even more of a contender for the golden boot: “There’s one last game left, and my ambition is to remain among the top scorers in the Championship this season,” says a smiling Bibout.
