Cameroon’s U15 Lions are entering the final stretch of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA U15 World Cup in Azerbaijan, with the team increasing the intensity of its work ahead of the tournament.
The young Lions held two training sessions on Monday, September 21, at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza as coach Franck Cédric Onana Owono continued to work on the details of his squad.
The first session started at 6am, followed by another at 4pm. Tactical work and specific drills dominated both sessions as the technical team focused on improving the players’ understanding and coordination.
The day ended with a technical meeting centred on football played with eight players per team, the format that will be used at the World Cup. Coach Onana Owono took the players through the basics, including positioning, the different phases of the game, attacking and defensive organisation and transitions.
The session was aimed at helping the young players adapt fully to the demands of the format before they travel to Azerbaijan.
Another important test awaits the team on Tuesday, September 22, when the U15 Lions face Indomables Academy in a friendly at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza. The match kicks off at 8am.
The friendly will give the technical staff another opportunity to assess the players while allowing the squad to put their football-eight principles into practice in a competitive setting.
The FIFA U15 World Cup Azerbaijan 2026 is scheduled to run from October 22 to 31, and Cameroon will be hoping the final weeks of preparation provide the young Lions with the necessary foundation for their first steps on the global stage.
