Former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach Clarence Seedorf is back in the dugout.
The Dutch football legend has agreed to become the new head coach of Brazilian giants Corinthians, returning to management after several years away from the touchline. Seedorf has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of 2027.
The appointment brings Seedorf back into the spotlight after his short spell with Cameroon. He coached the Indomitable Lions between 2018 and 2019, working alongside former Netherlands teammate Patrick Kluivert. The pair led Cameroon at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt before their journey ended in the Round of 16 against Nigeria.
Now, Seedorf gets another major opportunity to rebuild his coaching reputation, this time at one of Brazil’s biggest clubs. His return to management will attract plenty of attention, particularly given his remarkable history in the game.
As a player, Seedorf made Champions League history, becoming the only footballer to win the competition with three different clubs. He lifted the trophy with Ajax in 1995, Real Madrid in 1998 and AC Milan in 2003 and 2007. He also played in Brazil for Botafogo, giving him valuable experience of Brazilian football.
For Cameroonians, Seedorf’s return will bring back memories of his time with the Indomitable Lions. Now, the former Cameroon coach has a fresh challenge in Brazil and will hope to make his mark at Corinthians.
