Egyptian international Ramadan Sobhi has suffered another legal setback after the Swiss Federal Court rejected his appeal against a four-year suspension, leaving the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling in place.
The 29-year-old Pyramids FC winger challenged the CAS decision, which imposed the four-year ban in November 2025 following an anti-doping case involving manipulation of the doping-testing process.
The case dates back to 2024, when Sobhi was provisionally suspended following an adverse finding in a doping test. The Egyptian Anti-Doping Organisation later cleared him, but the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed that decision before CAS.
CAS subsequently overturned the Egyptian decision and ruled that Sobhi had committed an anti-doping rule violation. The Lausanne-based court imposed a four-year period of ineligibility, with time already served under provisional suspension credited towards the sanction.
Sobhi then took his case to the Swiss Federal Court, challenging the CAS ruling on procedural and legal grounds. The Swiss court has now rejected his appeal, meaning the CAS decision remains in force.
The ruling leaves Sobhi facing a four-year suspension from football activity, dealing a major blow to the former Al Ahly, Stoke City and Huddersfield Town winger’s career.
Sobhi, who has represented Egypt 37 times, will now have to serve the remainder of the sanction while his future with Pyramids FC remains uncertain.
