Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have officially completed the signing of promising Moroccan left-back Fouad Zahouani from Union Touarga Sport, with the 20-year-old putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until 30 June 2029. The transfer remains subject to the completion of the final administrative formalities.
Zahouani, a product of Morocco’s renowned Mohammed VI Football Academy, joined Union Touarga’s youth ranks in 2024 before earning a rapid promotion to the senior team just six months later. His impressive rise has now been rewarded with a move to one of Europe’s most prestigious talent-development clubs.
Ajax confirmed that the Moroccan defender will initially join Jong Ajax, the club’s U23 side, where he is expected to continue his development before challenging for a place in the first team.
On the international stage, Zahouani has enjoyed a remarkable rise. He made his senior debut for Morocco’s local national team in 2025 and later played a key role in the country’s historic triumph at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, further enhancing his reputation as one of Morocco’s brightest defensive prospects.
The move represents another milestone in Morocco’s growing production line of elite young talent, with Ajax once again investing in one of the country’s most promising defenders as the Eredivisie club continues its tradition of developing future stars.
