Aigle of Menoua maintains unbeaten home run, thrashing Victoria United 4-1

Victoria United FC of Limbe have failed to end Aigle of the Menoua’s unbeaten run at home, suffering a humiliating 4-1 loss to the host on matchday 18 of the MtN Elite one championship in Bamendzi on May 10.

Ndiforchu Blaise was at his best form once again, scoring a hattrick to help his side secure three precious points that keeps their hopes of not dropping alive.

He has now scored 15 goals in 15 matches this season and is currently the league’s top scorer. Aigle sure secured a Gem for themselves this season from PWD of Bamenda as his scoring prowess could help them maintain their stay in Elite One.

It was Victoria United who took the lead, barely one minute from kickoff courtesy of a goal from Ambassa Faustin, one of the fastest goals this season. Victoria United held on to that lead until the break.

Aigle went into half-time 1-0 down and also with just 10 players to fight for a comeback after Luc Ndong was sent off at the 43rd minute.

Mistro Yamdjeu leveled scores seven minutes into the second segment bringing back Aigle on course. And at the 68 minute, Ndiforchu converted a penalty to give Aigle the lead.

The game reached 90 minutes with the scoreline at 3-1 after Ndiforchu sent in a thunderous strike just before extra time. Already contempt, the Jubilant home fans did not see a fourth coming. The striker was not done yet. A last minute effort sent the stadium into rupture, sealing a 4-1 win, the biggest of Matchday 18.

This result sees Aigle move a place up on the standings with 21 points from five wins, six draw and seven defeats.

While Victoria United coming off two consecutive victories in Garoua remains on the sixth position with 27 points, having recorded eight wins, seven defeats and three draws.

The 2024 Elite one champions will look to bounce back at home on matchday 19, schedule for May 13, when they receive defending champions Colombe.
