Cameroon International defender Che Malone Fondoh and USM Alger have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup, following a 1-0 win over Maniema Union in the return leg quarterfinal game this Sunday, March 22.

In thier quest to regain the title they failed to defend two years back, the Algerian side secured a narrow 2-2 aggregate win over Maniema of DR Congo, thanks to a first half goal from Brahim Benzaza which sees them progress on away goal rule.

Involved in all two crucial matches for club and Contributing solidly at the back, Che Malone and teammates had suffered a 1-2 first leg defeat in the DRC.

They then entered this crucial return leg game knowing that victory is needed if they have to advance to the next round, adding pressure to their performance in front of home crowd.

Alger’s progress to the most decisive stage of the competition is a significant step towards continental success.

This is equally a boost to the Algerian side who struggles in the Ligue though on course for the title as they sit 8th with 29 points, 17 behind leaders MC Alger-defending champions.

However, they stand strong in the Algerian Cup, where as title holders, looks favorites to advance to the final and a victory would see them return to the Confederation Cup next season.

USM Alger, 2023 winners of the Totalenergies CAF Confederation Cup, will go against Olympique de Safi in the semifinals next month.
