Cameroon international goalkeeper Ange Gabrielle Bawou has completed a return home after signing a one-year contract with Guinness Super League side Dja Sport.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper, who featured for the Indomitable Lionesses at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), arrives with significant continental pedigree following spells in Nigeria and Europe.
Bawou made her name locally with Louves Miniproff before securing a move to Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria. There, she played a decisive role in the club’s impressive run at the CAF Women’s Champions League, earning multiple Player of the Match awards as Bayelsa finished third in the competition. Her performances on the continental stage further underlined her reputation as one of Cameroon’s leading goalkeepers.
She later moved to BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan, gaining experience in European competitions and adding further depth to her growing résumé.
Her arrival signals clear intent from Dja Sport, who have been active during the close season as they strengthen key areas of their squad. The club’s recent recruitment drive is widely seen as a strategic push to place them firmly in contention for the Guinness Super League title this season.
With proven international experience and big-match composure, Bawou is expected to add stability and leadership at the back as Dja Sport look to challenge for top honours in the upcoming campaign.
