Cameroon centre-back Samuel Junior Kotto has joined Stade de Reims on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy, following an impressive performance at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old defender moves to the French club, who currently compete in Ligue 2, as he takes the next step in his professional career.

Kotto caught the eye with a series of commanding displays at AFCON, where his physical presence, positional discipline and calmness under pressure stood out in Cameroon’s defensive line.

Stade de Reims are understood to view the Cameroonian as a player with strong development potential, capable of adapting quickly to the demands of French football.

The defender is expected to integrate into the squad in the coming days as he looks to establish himself and help his new club achieve their objectives for the season.

Cameroon fans will be hoping Kotto’s move to Europe marks the beginning of a successful chapter, as he aims to continue making his country proud on the international stage.
