Cameroon’s national amputee football team secured the bronze medal at the first edition of the West African Para Games, held in Abeokuta, Nigeria.
The boys of Ngala Maimo wrapped up the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Benin on December 4, 2025, to claim third place.

Cameroon’s Team wins against Benin
The competition, which ran from November 26 to December 4, saw Cameroon play four matches. They recorded two wins against Benin (8-0 and 2-0), held Liberia to a goalless draw, and narrowly lost 1-0 to hosts Nigeria.
Cameroon finished the tournament with 10 goals scored, just one conceded, and two clean sheets.
Standout performers included Kingue Alfred, Antoine Babo, Nkeng Lenly, and Benga Arnaud, who were particularly impressive in the decisive wins over Benin.
In the overall medal table, Cameroon ended in fifth place, taking home one silver and one bronze, behind Niger in fourth, Ghana in third, and Benin in second.
Nigeria dominated the Games, topping the medal tally with 129 across all men’s and women’s categories, including 59 golds, 39 silvers, and 31 bronzes.
The West African Para Games aim to boost the development of para sports and promote inclusive sporting policies across the sub-region.
The inaugural edition in Abeokuta successfully highlighted the talent, resilience, and competitive spirit of athletes with disabilities.
