In a touching display of appreciation and camaraderie, players from Soccer Queens’ exclusive WhatsApp platform surprised their beloved Daddy and women’s football enthusiast, Moses Nagogo Bako, with a generous cash gift to celebrate his wedding anniversary, leaving him visibly moved to tears.
Nagogo Bako, a women’s football advocate who is fondly called by the players father of all Nations got a surprise cash gift of over N200,000.
The players’ thoughtful gesture was a testament to their admiration and respect for Bako.
“Why won’t I cry,
It is surprising, astonishing, unexpected, shocking, Startling….. unbelievable and mind-blowing,” Bako said.
“How do I say THANK YOU
I didn’t see it coming at all.
All I heard was there was a meeting, and I should excuse you all for a discussion… You people Caught me off guard and Left me speechless.”
Former Delta Queens player Sarah Nnodim, who coordinated the donation, also stated reasons for such a kind gesture.
She said: “I just deemed it fit that he needs to be celebrated for the good things he has done for the players.
“He has been like a father to us, and anytime we have difficulties and we call, he is always there to answer.
“Any player that has issues, he does call and ask for my opinion to raise funds for the person. I just deem it fit to say it is high time since we could not celebrate his birthday, which has passed. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate him.
“It was amazing the way players responded to the donation. It is not when footballers or legends die that one starts celebrating or mourning the person. There are times we need to celebrate someone when he is alive. Let him enjoy good things and be celebrated when he is alive.” The 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) winner concluded.
