Volcan of Noun’s qualification to the semi-final of the 2024 national interpools is said to be maintained despite fears that they could be stripped off due to the use of ineligible players.

24 hours earlier, we gathered that they club’s qualification for the semi-final of the competition could be overturned after Krimi FC found proves that the West Region champions fielded ineligible players.

However, information reaching our editorial crew have it that FECAFOOT has opted to stick to the competition rules which doesn’t provide for winning of matches of the pitch, meaning Krimi can’t get the precious three points off Volcan of Noun.

Sources at the center of the affair say Volcan may be slammed with financial punishments, but their qualification for the semi-final of the competition maintained.

Everything being equal, the West outfit chasing a return to Elite football for the first time in over 20 years will face Union Sportif Abong Mbang of Bertoua in the semi-final of the competition while Mintack the won their pool will challenge Atlantic of Kribi in the other last four game scheduled this Friday in the nation’s political capital.

Volcan lost the semi-final last season and finished fourth in the interpools, which wasn’t enough to secure qualification.

They are hoping to write the wrongs this time around and progress to the prestigious MTN Elite Two championship.

In a related development, FECAFOOT is delaying to publish the match program for the semi-finals due to delays in the results of their efforts to get a better and more secured infrastructures for the two matches.

The need for security has been heightened by the crowd trouble that ensued during the match the four clash of Atlantic of Kribi and Volcan of Noun, during which Louis Tchounde, the president of the South Regional League of FECAFOOT was molested for opting to maintain his position behind the Volcan goal.
