- Ben Elliot has replaced Zambo Anguissa in Cameroon’s squad for friendlies against Russia and Senegal
- Zambo Anguissa wouldn’t add to his 49 caps and five international goals this window
- Eric Choupo Moting is also ruled out due to an injuryÂ
Cameroon will be without Eric Maxim Choupo Moting and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa in their friendlies against Russia and Senegal on October 12 and 16 respectively.
The communications department of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) made the information this Wednesday, October 11 after Rigobert Song and the rest of the team arrived Moscow.
Zambo was substituted after 31 minutes after he picked up a muscle injury while in action for Napoli against Fiorentina last weekend in the Serie A.
Reports of a scan afterwards have it that the 27-year-old had strained a muscle in his left thigh and will require a rest lasting between 3-4 before returning to competitive action.
Zambo, who has made eight appearances this season for Rudi Garcia’s Napoli will not be available to win his 50th cap for his country during this window.
Song has swiftly replaced Zambo with teenage midfielder Ben Elliot of Reading in the third tier of English football.
There has not been any clear cut explanation of the nature of Choupo’s injury, but he is also out of the contest.
Cameroon will face Russia on Thursday in Moscow before returning to France to challenge Senegal three days later.
