Cameroon’s deaf football team has arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to participate in the 4th edition of the World Deaf Football Championship. The team landed on Wednesday morning at 7:10 and checked into the hotel reserved for all the participants.
The 27-member delegation, which includes 19 players and eight administrative staff, plans to rest on Wednesday and start training on Thursday morning.
“We arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 7:10 a.m. and returned to the hotel reserved for us for a rest. This afternoon the team will have a cleaning session and then tomorrow (Thursday) at 9 a.m. the first preparatory training session of the Japan vs Cameroon match scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 8:30 p.m,” Valery Pehma highlighted.
Cameroon’s first match in the World Deaf Football Championship will be against Japan on Saturday, September 23, at 8:30 p.m. at the UKM Stadium. They will face France on Monday, September 25, and Iran on Wednesday, September 27, for their remaining group games.
France, who are Cameroon’s second opponents, have been in Kuala Lumpur since Tuesday morning. Iran and Japan are expected to arrive by Thursday.
Other countries that have already reached the host city include Ukraine, Australia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia for the men’s tournament, and the United States and England for the women’s tournament.
The games of this edition of the Deaf World Cup will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association.
