Etienne Momokoamas Kopo, the head coach of Central Africa Republic (CAR) women’s Football team has picked a squad of 24 players for their round two 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) tie against the Eaglets of Mali later this month in Douala and Bamako.
The squad announced via the CAR football federation on Friday includes star Guinness Super League forward Kokate Dorcas Noella on the heels of a satisfactory 2022/23 in which she scored six goals for Awa Filles.
The forward is one of few plying their trade abroad and is expected to inspire the squad dominated home-based players in the quest for victory in this round of the qualifiers against AWCON regular, Mali.
The team has been in camp in the past two weeks. They are expected to continue preparations in Cameroon ahead of the first-leg game on September 22 at the Japoma Omnisport stadium, before flying to Bamako to wrap up matters four days later.
The winner of the will advance to the final round of the qualifiers.
Mali edged Burkina Faso 3-2 in the first round and are hoping to navigate the next two ties to return to the AWCON scene after missing out in 2022 of the event in the same Morocco.
