2024 SWRL: Ulysee Ledoux’s hat-trick fires Buea United to interpools

The Mountain Boys of Buea United will represent the Southwest Region at the 2024 national interpools in what will be their competition debut.

The club secured their qualification for the competition this Saturday at the Molyko Omnisport stadium after a 4-2 win against eight-man Best Stars Academy of Limbe after extra time.

Left-back Ulysee Ledoux Ymele was the star of the final as he scored a hat-trick for Buea United FC – dispatching two penalties in the process while Festus Kingsley got the other goal for the winners and Best Stars only scored twice via Junior Mukete and Frank Mafany who was later sent off.

The boys of coach Agbor Emmanuel continued their mini interpools form and showing their newfound giant slaying character again.

Facing the Best Stars side that had eliminated Elecsport and Legends of Kumba in the previous round, Buea United had a tough customer to deal with even if they could take inspiration from great results against Kumba City and Fako United FC in the quarter and semi-final respectively.

At a full Molyko Omnisport stadium, Buea United took the game to Best Stars Academy who organized to absorb pressure and hit on the counter.

The first real moment of the game was at the half hour mark when Best Stars gave away a careless penalty which Buea United graciously accepted and opened scores through Ymele.

The one nil lead was protected till the break though the game could have had more in the first segment if not for poor finishing and good goalkeeping.

Best Stars return for with a greater and they were soon rewarded. Franky Mafany even matters after 55 minutes, the Regional League top soccer Mukete Jnr made it 2-1 with less than 26 minutes still to play.

Ledoux equalized 12 minutes before the end to send the game into extra time with Best Stars Academy down to ten men following the dismissal of Mafany for descent.

At extra time Buea United obtained another penalty which led to a huge protest from Best Stars Academy players who laid hands on the Referees. Goalkeeper Alma Baba and Emmanuel Njie were sent off for taking their protest too far.

Ledoux finally converted the penalty before Festus Kingsley scored a late goal for Buea United to ensure it finished 4-2.

The blast of the final whistle from Ngwa Ngong Pascal meant Buea United FC are champions of Southwest and will be the first Buea club at the Interpools since Dynamic in 2009.

Buea United will compete with Volcan of Noun, Abong Mbang ,South and Adamawa Regional champions at the Interpools scheduled for July 1 to 15 in Yaoundé.
