The buzzling city of Marakech in Morocco has been designated as the host of the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony scheduled for 16 December 2024 by the Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”).
Information filtering in from the Cairo African football epicenter has it that for the third year running Morocco will host the ceremony and Marrakech will host to equal the high standards set last year.
The CAF Awards are scheduled to bring together elite football talent from around the continent to celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the game over a 12 month period for club and country.
Though CAF is yet to confirm the starting time of the #CAFAwards24, the previous event which was held at the Parliament Hall started at 8pm and crowned Victor James Osihmen, Asisat Oshoala amongst others.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, a strong contender for the Men’s Player of the Year award just like Morocco’s Hakim Ziyech and Brahim Diaz.
Morocco’s designation as the host country reflects its emerging role as a major destination for international football events. The Kingdom has become a go-to avenue for high-profile CAF events, including the CAF Women’s Champions League, held earlier this year.
The kingdom is also gearing up to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030, in a joint bid with Spain and Portugal.
