ISOHSA of Limbe have advanced to the 32nd finals of the 2023 Cup of Cameroon after defeating Nkamanyi FI of Kumba by 3-2 in a memorable semi-final game this Wednesday, May 24 at the Molyko Omnisport stadium in Buea.
Substitutes Zambo Abdoulaye and Alex Chi climbed off the bench to score while Wilson Junior got the other goal to reduce Wirkom Micheal’s brace to a consolation.
Just like in the 4-3 win against Options Sports Academy of Limbe in the previous round, Zambo was an impact substitute as he won it for Coach Nlend Aime’s team. The lanky forward scored three minutes after his introduction, and with 12 minutes from time as the Limbe outfit came from behind twice to win by an odd goal in five.
ISOHSA entered the contest at the Molyko Omnisport stadium with something to prove, keeping mind the fact that they had only won once in four games at the ground this season.
ISOHSA were the better side in the opening exchanges and enjoyed a bulk of the possession, but failed to take their chances.
Forward Albert Tiku and Babo Brandon combined to win a 16th minute penalty, but the latter missed after wrongfooting the keeper. Though he later staged a top performance.
Ashu Kelvin gave away possession midway into the first-half and was punished. Wirkom picked the pieces from a poor clearance and volleyed into the roof of the ISOHSA net from outside the box to make it 1-0.
Though Brice Ashu and mates rallied and pushed for the equalizer, the visitors protected the advantage till the break.
Half-time substitute Chi made it 1-1 six minutes upon resumption.
Ashu Kingsley gave away a free-kick on the edge of the ISOHSA box. Wirkom’s effort left Ashu Kelvin rooted to the spot with a great free-kick that restored Nkamanyi FI’s lead.
Wilson scored the second equalizer from a cross cum short from the halfway position, before Zambo won it late on to take ISOHSA through to the 32nd final again.
Last year’s representative alongside CUSA of Buea, ISOHSA eliminated Kamjo Sports Academy, ATESS, Options Sports Academy and Nkamanyi FI to reach the 32nd final.
NQSA of Limbe eliminated Istanbul FA in the other semi-final to return to the money phase of the competition.
ISOHSA will enjoy a walkover in the 32nd as Lausanne Academy which they are pitted against were recently served a one-year ban by Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) disciplinary commission.
ISOHSA will face the winner of the tie between Caïman and Dynamo of Douala.
