Mamelodi Sundowns player, Lerato Kgasago is confident that the South African side has what it takes to subdue their opponents in the semi-final of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The 2021 CAF Women’s Champions League winners face AS FAR of Morocco in the semi-final of the three-year-old Africa Women’s inter-club competition at the Stade Amadou Gon Coulibaly Khorogo, Ivory Coast on Wednesday.
In search of their first win over the Moroccan side, Kgasago declared that her teammates and herself are battle-ready physically and mentally for the task ahead.
“As players, we are well prepared knowing that this game is going to come,” Kgasago told pressmen on Tuesday during the game pre-match conference in Korhogo.
“Mentally, we are ready for them and physically as well. It is going to be a different ball game.”
“We are here to challenge one another. If I get a chance to play, I will play with the team and not for myself. If I get the opportunity to play then I will play for the team.” She concluded.
The only team out of the last four with a perfect record at the tournament, Sundowns go into the semi-final match full of confidence.
A win on Wednesday will seal a place in the final for the third straight year as far as the competition is concerned.
The team beat Haasacas Ladies (Ghana) in the final of the maiden edition.
Last year, it was the time for AS FAR FC to inflict a 4-0 loss on the South Africans.
Wednesday’s game is a repeat of last year’s final and might be tagged “final before the final”.
